Eric Galbraith

Group leader

Eric has a background in various aspects of Earth system science, which he draws on to develop novel ways to quantify the human component of the Earth system. He previously studied and worked at the University of British Columbia, Princeton University and ICREA in Barcelona.

Elena Frie

Research assistant

Elena is a graduate of Earth system science and anthropology at McGill, working on the human chronome project.

Ava Fuchs

Undergraduate student

Ava is a McGill undergraduate student in Earth system science, working on the human chronome project.

Ian Hatton

Research Associate

Ian has a PhD in theoretical ecology, and has worked and studied at Princeton University, the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences, Leipzig, the Autonomous University in Barcelona, and the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences, South Korea, as well as McGill. He uses large datasets to tackle complex problems in systems biology.

Majdi Hunter-Batal

Undergraduate student

Majdi is a McGill undergraduate student in Biology and Urban Studies, contributing to data and literature analysis on human transportation time.

Abdullah-Al Faisal

PhD student

Faisal's undergraduate training was in urban planning at the Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology in Bangladesh, followed by a masters in applied GIS and remote sensing at the University of Southampton. His PhD project combines machine learning with remote sensing data and jurisdictional statistics to infer spatial aspects of the human system.

Max Kaye

PhD student

Max did his undergraduate degree at Tufts University, majoring in Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics. His PhD project in Mathematics uses network theory to better understand global flows of material and energy in the human system (co-supervised with Louigi Addario-Berry).

William Fajzel

PhD student

William's undergraduate training was in Earth System Science and economics at McGill. His PhD research focuses on developing the global understanding of time use through the Human Chronome project.

Maimoonah Ahmed

Research Assistant

Maimoonah has an undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of Guelph and a masters in software engineering from the University of Western Ontario, and is contributing to code development for the SESAME and chronome projects.

Justin Lipper

Undergraduate student

Justin is a McGill student in physics and computer science. He is working on code development and sensitivity tests with the FORGE global hunter-gatherer model.
